In the Field
I have been shooting with a KB Canham DLC45 4×5 inch view camera since 2000. Shooting large format film does require a bit of dedication, but it is second nature for me. Sticking with one tool lets me focus on the creative aspects of image capture.
Film is not Dead!
I primarily use Kodak TMax 100 4×5 inch black and white film. Not only is the grain fine enough to make 40×50 inch prints, the light response is superior in dark interiors that require long exposures.
The Darkroom
I make traditional, silver gelatin prints in a darkroom (yes like Ansel Adams) I love the process as much as I love the final art print. It’s a process steeped in tradition, and luckily continues to be a viable approach despite more expensive, and fewer, materials being available.
