The Icefields Parkway is one of the most beautiful stretches of road I have ever seen. It’s 179 miles from Banff to Jasper, and one could spend a lifetime photographing here. To cover new areas like this I picked up a “cruising for snaps” routine from a photographer I met in Bryce. He showed me the importance of repeat visits, and to always keep moving. So in Banff I was up at 5:00am for sunrise and hit each of the spots I had mapped out. This little lake is close to the beginning of the drive, and I timed it perfectly as the warming sun created a layer of mist while the water was still perfectly calm.
