In August 2014 I drove my 4Runner from Oakland California to Prudhoe Bay Alaska, 3,448 miles ONE WAY! On the way back I made several side trips including one to Kennecott Alaska. Kennecott is the mining town, and location of the copper mine and mill, featured on the reality TV show “Edge of Alaska”. McCarthy (the town those locals live in) is a 4.5 mile drive down a dirt road. The concentration mill that I toured is one of the biggest wooden mills I’ve ever visited, and the power plant, which was burned to the ground and rebuilt in record time, has some fascinating machinery to photograph.
To kick off 2017’s Print of the Month club I’m offering “Kennecott Power Plant” as the January print of the month. The idea of the print of the month is similar to “omakase” I choose a photograph each month to print for my collectors. Because I can print the orders together I can offer the prints at a lower cost than individual sales. After the month is over the print goes back to the normal price and normal editioning rules. Collectors benefit with early access to my latest prints as well as preferred edition numbers etc.
